Average Bench: 21.5% (134th of 452)

Based on 1,236,994 user benchmarks.  Device: 1002 67DF Model: Radeon RX 580

The RX 580 launched this week and is AMD’s latest flagship GPU which is based on a second generation Polaris architecture. The 580 is a refresh of the RX 480 which was released just 10 months ago. Modifications to the architecture have resulted in improved thermals and increased clock speeds by around 10%. The RX 580 will come with either 4GB or 8GB of high-bandwidth GDDR5 memory. Exact pricing for this mid-range chip remains to be seen, but the RX 500 series is likely to cannibalize sales of AMD’s 400 series. Performance wise, the RX 580 is in direct competition with NVIDIA’s popular GTX 1060 6GB which is now 9 months old. Perhaps after last year’s ill timed head to head release of the RX 480 and the faster but similarly priced GTX 1060 (a standoff which NVIDIA seem to have won based on market share), AMD are attempting to draw back some market share with the newer, slightly upgraded RX 580. [Apr '17 GPUPro]

Very poor average bench

The AMD RX 580 averaged 78.4% lower than the peak scores attained by the group leaders. This isn't a great result which indicates that there are much faster alternatives on the comparison list.

We bought an Rx480 in 2016 (which was revolutionary), and the Rx580 is just a factory overclocking of the Rx480. Right now it's a great value if you can find one for $250, unfortunately because of crypto currency miners it's not a good value over $300. Last year's Rx480 crushes every game at 60+ fps at 1920x1200 (WUXGA) which is greater than 1080p, and the Rx580 is even faster !! As usual, the benchmarks on this website omit Vulcan where the Rx480 and Rx580 both Crush the NVidia 1060!! Not only that the 1060 compresses textures which produces artifacts - like watching an MPEG movie of your game - YUCK !!—Jun '17

Still as awesome as RX 570 which is slightly lower priced and little weaker but gamers may buy RX 570 instead when they're concerned about the budget.

Ok value, the rx 590 just puts it in a strange place.

Best buy price to performance. Nvidia just suandaring people's pockets. They don't care for their consumers... Amd for the people.

A good budget option without going for the bottom of the barrel. It holds itself up well compared to the 1650S. Would recommend this if you are going for more value though.

This is one of the best GPU's for price-to-performance ratio, for sure in the top 5. I buy these cards used for around $120-$140 all the time for my builds. This card is a direct competitor to the GTX 1660. Not only is it way cheaper than the GTX 1660, it also performs better in most benchmarks.

This was my first dedicated graphics card that was not part of a pre-built machine. My previous card was something Nvidia from 2013 with 2GB VRAM. So, this was a significant upgrade. Had some issues with it running hot, but those were eventually solved. Would definitely recommend as a good beginner's card, or for someone who is not looking for the highest quality graphics and does not want to put a lot of thought into their selection.

The 200$ Contender from AMD. I have mixed feelings with this one but you can always choose the 1060 instead of this really depends on what games you are going to play

Excellent

This GPU is a very popular and great choice for PC gaming during this time. It is priced competitively with the flagship NVIDIA GTX 1060, which in terms of performance, would be better than the RX 580, but the RX 580 has both 4GB models and 8GB. The 8GB model is slightly better than a GTX 1060 in most if not nearly all games. This card also has an appearance in many budget builds, due to its low price and high performance. For this age, this card is definitely strong enough to handle many new demanding titles at high settings.

I dont like it just for the fact that its very POWER hungry, for its performance that is just 10% better than an gtx 1060 and demands double the power pretty much, so my 600W psu cant even run it!

The cheapest 8GB VRAM you will ever get, which makes this card particularly useful for content creators. As for games, it is legit equal to the GTX 1060 6GB version. Except that it's cheaper and also has more VRAM. Buying this over the GTX 1060 is really a no-brainer.

Good

It seems like it's not as powerful as a 1060 overall, but with tests only ran in dx12, it performs better, making it probably more future-proof in my opinion. Probably best for 1080p, can be good for 1440p, and for some people, even its 4k performance can be tolerated

Excellent

Performs better in DX12 games than a 1060 and costs way less, definitely the best option for ultra 1080p gaming.

the rx 580 was my first ever gpu. came with the computer that i bought and was really good at playing practically anything. however, in certain video games such as empyreon galactic survival i would have liked a higher teir gpu to max out all the graphical settings. the only thing i would prefer over this gpu would be a gpu that can perform ray tracing for minecraft and other games of course.
