1070 Max-Q better card than 1080 Max-Q for many reasons. Here are some facts. 1060 Max-Q is 11% slower than 1060 Mobile but 53% faster than 1050ti Mobile. 1070 Max-Q is 18% slower than 1070 Mobile but 25% faster than 1060 Mobile. 1080 Max-Q is 12% slower than 1080 Mobile but 0% faster than 1070 Mobile. 1080 Max-Q is only GPU that is not faster than its lower tier mobile GPU. 1080 Max-Q is 18% faster than 1070 Max-Q 1070 Max-Q is 52% faster than 1060 Max-Q 1070 Max-Q has much higher performance jump from its lower tier Max-Q card. Based on Asus Zephyrus GX501VI and GX501VS reviews, 1080 Max-Q temperature goes up to 80°C on load, whereas 1070 Max-Q temperature goes up to 70°C on load. In which it gives 1070 Max-Q a headroom to overclock, reducing performance difference with 1070 mobile and 1080 Max-Q, while 1080 Max-Q will throttle if overclocked. To conclude Due to the nature of 1080's high TGP, Max-Q version of 1080 has worst efficiency, performing much like a 1070 card. 1070 Max-Q a smarter choice for the Max-Q Laptop for its performance efficiency and better acoustic.
