Based on 128 user benchmarks.  Device: 1002 73BF Model: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT

AMD’s RX 6800-XT delivers a huge generational jump in performance. It’s great to see that AMD have upgraded the single fan cooler to a triple fan solution. Perhaps they have shifted their focus from benchmark busting headlines to user experience. Following the widespread issues that users faced with the 5000 and Vega series, we are cautiously optimistic that AMD have taken steps to ensure driver and hardware stability, this will need to be proven over time. The release of the 6000 series explains why Nvidia doubled performance per dollar when they released their 3070 just a few weeks ago. A comparison between Nvidia’s previous generation flagship, the 2080 Ti, and the 6800-XT shows that AMD now offer comparable raw performance at half the price. Much of the marketing material for this release centers on high resolution gaming which is rarely optimal for most users. We will post a more conclusive summary when we have more data, after our retail samples arrive... [Nov '20 GPUPro]

AMD definitely stepped up their game this year. This card goes head-to-head with Nvidia's 3080 on most games, and manages to surpass it in power efficiency, thanks to TSMC's 7nm. While the new Radeons are strong in compute and general gaming, they are still behind in raytracing and OpenGL performance, and their onboard encoder is not even close to Nvidia's.
