The GTX 1650 supersedes NVIDIA’s two year old 1050, outperforming it by around 52%. It features a TU117 processor based on the latest Turing architecture, which is a reduced version of the TU116 in the GTX 1660. The 1650 has 896 NVIDIA CUDA Cores, a base/boost clock of 1485/1665 MHz and 4GB of GDDR5 memory running at up to 8Gbps. The reference version has a low (75W) power consumption and higher power variants are available with greater overclocking headroom. At a list price of USD $150, this card is the cheapest Turing based graphics card available, however, in the budget market where “value for money” reigns supreme, AMD’s two year old RX 570 8GB outperforms the 1650 by around 15%, has double the memory (therefore is more future proof) and can often be found cheaper. Very power-efficient card at a sub-570 performance, but the pricing is disadvantageous and frankly peculiar at 169MSRP. This position should be reserved for the 1650 Ti...

If the GTX 1650 was priced at $100-120 (USD), then it would be a very compelling product. However, with a launch price of $150, it is not competitive against the better performing and less expensive AMD Radeon RX 570. If you're okay with less performance for more money, then the only justifiable reason to buy this GPU is for its efficiency (performance-per-watt). As most reviewers have already concluded, this latest offering from NVIDIA is virtually DOA (dead on arrival), barring a significant price drop. Additionally, unlike all of the other Turing (16 and 20 Series) cards, this one uses the previous generation NVENC encoder, further decreasing its value proposition. The GTX 1650 joins the GTX 1050 Ti as one of the worst value graphics cards on the market, only slightly redeemed by the fact that it is, somewhat ironically, a better value than the latter at current prices. Even so, if you're looking for the best cost-to-performance, your money is better spent on the aforementioned RX 570.
